Scholarships

AREMA Educational Foundation General Fund
An unrestricted fund administered by the AREMA Educational Foundation. Funds are raised to help with general expenses related to the operation of the Foundation. Donations may also provide scholarships, educational opportunities or other endeavors.

Committee 1 Roadway and Ballast Scholarship
For enrolled undergraduate students who have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program.

Committee 4 Rail Scholarship
For enrolled student who has completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program with priority given to the following disciplines in this order: Metallurgy, Materials Science, Welding, Non-destructive Testing, Railway Engineering.

Committee 5 Track Scholarship
For undergraduate student enrolled full time in an accredited civil, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering curriculum, having completed at least one year.

Committee 10 Structures, Maintenance and Construction
For enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program.

Committee 12 Rail Scholarship
For enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who has completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited engineering program OR part time student working full time in the railway industry; and the student demonstrates a preference for rail transit engineering.

Committee 14 Yards and Terminals Scholarship
For Sophomores or above pursuing a bachelor's degree as an engineering major currently (or previously) enrolled in a rail engineering class or conducting railroad engineering research and a member of an AREMA Student Chapter.

Committee 15 Steel Structures/Prof Wallace Sanders
For an engineering student in the field of structural engineering pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Committee 18 Light Density and Short Line Railways
For enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program.

Committee 24 Education and Training Scholarship
For current AREMA Student Member who has completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five year engineering or engineering technology degree program.

Committee 27 Maintenance-of-Way Work Equipment
Priority is given to a Committee 27 family member or a family member of someone in the work equipment industry for railroads.

Committee 30 Ties Scholarship
For enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program.

Committee 33 Electric Energy Utilization Scholarship
For an undergraduate applicant demonstrating an interest in the field of rail traction electrification systems engineering.

Communications and Signals Functional Group Scholarship
For student pursuing a four or five year Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Information Technology undergraduate degree program at an accredited institution who has demonstrated an interest in railroad Signaling and Communications. Priority is given to AREMA C&S Functional Group family members, including grandchildren.

John J. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship
For Junior or Senior college student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a professional field that has direct applications in the passenger rail sector.

Maintenance Functional Group Scholarship
For enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program.
MTC
Michigan Tech Alumni Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate engineering student in good standing at Michigan Tech University. This scholarship is available to all Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC) Members and Club Officers.
MTU
Structures Functional Group Member Emeritus Scholarship
For an engineering student in the field of structural engineering pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Wayne E. Russell Memorial Scholarship
For enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program.
