AREMA would like to welcome Ricky E. Johnson as an AREMA Governor. Johnson is filling an unexpired term and starts his term immediately.
Mr. Ricky E. Johnson is the Vice President of Engineering at CSX, with responsibilities including oversight of CSX’s track infrastructure.
Johnson has served in this position since April 2015, prior to which, he was the Chief Engineer, Maintenance of Way. He has held multiple positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure at CSX which extends more than 15 years, including roadmaster, assistant division engineer of track, division engineer and assistant chief of system production.
Johnson’s leadership and background in technology systems were crucial to CSX’s development and implementation of Positive Train Control and other technologies that support the company’s safety, service and productivity goals.
Johnson joined CSX with railroad experience having worked at the Alabama Gulf Coast Railway as a Roadmaster and BNSF Railway in various engineering positions.
Johnson has been a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association since 2010.
Johnson, a military veteran of the US Army, has a bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College and a master of business administration from the University of Maryland. He also completed CSX’s Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School.
