Who Should Attend?
This seminar is designed for Engineering, Environmental, Construction, Operations and Facilities Management Department staff from the Railroads, as well as their contractors and consultants.

Why Should You Attend?
The Federal Clean Water Act (CWA) provides the basic national framework for water pollution control and water quality management in the U.S. The principal sections of the CWA focus on imposing nationwide controls on “point sources” that discharge a broad range of pollutants into the nation’s surface waters. Federal and state agencies are also expanding their controls on the discharge of rain and snowmelt from industry and construction into surface waters. Federal and state agencies also require facilities that use, manage and store oil to prepare and implement Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans. Finally, federal agencies may require a permit to dredge or fill watercourses and “wetlands”. This seminar is intended to give attendees at least a working knowledge of each of these regulatory programs and their requirements.
