Who Should Attend this Seminar...
Our experience has shown that typical participants benefiting the most from this course are those with limited exposure to the railway industry, or railroaders with highly specialized positions. For example, a structural engineer well versed in highway bridge design but with some exposure to railway bridge design would gain valuable knowledge about track, signals, and railway operations typically unfamiliar to those outside the industry.

Seminar Benefits
  • Contact with other railroad professionals through our low student/instructor ratio, and an optional group dinner on Saturday night. (Dinner is at participants’ expense).
  • Participants will gain a greater appreciation for the technical and not-so-technical aspects of railroad engineering and operations.
  • Instructors will conduct guided tours and site visits providing a hands-on look at railroad infrastructure and equipment.
  • Registration fee includes a workbook containing printed copies of the presentation, and a digital copy of the Practical Guide to Railway Engineering (a $125 value), an 800-page text published by AREMA.
Professional Development Hours
This course provides 16 contact hours of technical content. Certificates of completion will be provided at the completion of the field visit. Please note: Your individual state board has the final authority on approving all Professional Development Hours for activities attended and other methods of earning credit.

AREMA
This seminar is sponsored by and developed under the auspices of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA). AREMA is a not-for-profit professional association whose mission is the development and advancement of both technical and practical knowledge and recommended practices pertaining to the design, construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure.
