Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of commuter-rail equipment electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and HVAC systems. Must have a good working knowledge of low-voltage control & high-voltage power systems, engine fuel, lubricating, cooling and control systems. Diesel preferred. The ability to perform all assigned duties with limited supervision, a positive attitude & be able to perform as a team member are essential. SENIOR ENGINEER -- PATH SIGNAL PROJECT The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), the primary transit link between Manhattan and neighboring New Jersey urban communities and suburban commuter railroads, is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide project management services and engineering support for the New Signal Capital Project. The successful incumbent will be a self-starter who can independently perform difficult technical assignments from inception to implementation. Specific responsibilities include managing third party consultant services; monitoring the design, construction and acceptance of a state-of-the-art Automatic Train Control system; monitoring quality assurance programs; coordinating interfaces between the new signal system and a new railcar fleet; and coordinating the installation and testing of a new signal system with existing wayside infrastructures on a 24 / 7 operating transit system. Qualified applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related discipline. Significant supervisory experience is required in the design, construction, testing, and / or maintenance of train control / signal and communication systems, including technical knowledge of current signal technology, FRA regulations, rail transit operations and safety procedures. Experience is also required in financial analysis techniques and project management, including a working knowledge of project management computer programs. WORKING CONDITIONS: · Requires a significant amount of time working on computers and reviewing detailed drawings · Pressure to meet changing project schedules, priorities and deadlines · Required to be on call during system commissioning activities · Intermittent periods of heavy overtime and travel to field sites under all weather conditions RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will be part of the signal design group which is responsible for modifying existing or designing new signal circuits for CTC, interlocking and highway-railway grade crossing warning system locations. The position is to oversee and check the work of other signal designers and to develop the overall design concepts for projects. The position may also be required to supervise the work performed by contractors and to provide technical support to installation and maintenance functions within the railway. QUALIFICATIONS · Experience in signal design for CTC, interlocking and highway-railway grade crossing warning systems. · Knowledge of railway practices, AREMA recommended practices and FRA/TC regulations · Experience programming electronic interlocking control equipment · Proficient in Bentley Microstation, MS Word, Excel and Project · Candidates must be fluent in oral and written English.
