Life Cycle of Wooden Ties
This course will discuss the life cycle of wooden crossties from the cradle to the grave. We will discuss Forestry Operations, Inspection and Treating, Installation, In-track Inspection, and End of Life options.
The webinar will be conducted on the Zoom platform.
This webinar is comprised of recommended practices and relevant accumulated knowledge from subject matter experts in the railroad industry. It is not intended as a regulatory qualification.
PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES
Antonio Mauricio
Antonio Mauricio is the Product Manager – Ties for Loram Technologies, Inc. (formerly named GREX), and in his various roles over the past 14 years he has helped facilitate a data driven approach to crosstie maintenance planning. Antonio is a co-inventor of the Aurora system; a machine vision crosstie inspection service and he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Texas in 2006. He currently serves as chair of the subcommittee on wood ties of AREMA Committee 30 and also is a member of AREMA Committee 2.
Brad Crawford
Brad Crawford is the Director of Quality Assurance for Stella-Jones. Brad has grown up in the wood industry. He worked in Procurement with Stella-Jones prior to accepting the role of Forestry Specialist/Tie Inspector with Norfolk Southern. He took over as Director of QA for Stella-Jones in November of 2020. Brad is a 2005 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Forestry. He has been an active member of Committee 30 and 2 for the last 6 years.
