Committee 27 - Maintenance of Way Work Equipment

Maintenance-of-Way Functional Group

This committee is responsible for coordinating with the manufacturers and suppliers of work equipment to encourage the development of new machines and the improvement of those already available. They are responsible for the development and publication of recommended practices and information relating to the operation, inspection and maintenance of work equipment, including recommended specifications for new units.

Subcommittees and Current Assignments

Subcommittee A: Recommendations for Further Investigation and Research. Currently working on troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of computerized diesel engines.

Subcommittee B: Revision of Manual.

All 5 Subcommittees are reviewing the sections of the Manual that pertain to their group for updates and possible additions. At the time each group submits a document, it will be reviewed and placed out for ballot vote.

Subcommittee 1: Reliability.

Subcommittee 2: Preventative Maintenance. Currently working on Diesel Engine Preventative Maintenance document.

Subcommittee 3: Hi-Rail Equipment.

Subcommittee 4: Safety & Ergonomics.

Subcommittee 5: Training. Currently working on updating Section 1.3 (Wire Rope) of the Manual.
