Technical Committee 27 - Maintenance of Way Work Equipment

This committee is responsible for coordinating with the manufacturers and suppliers of work equipment to encourage the development of new machines and the improvement of those already available. They are responsible for the development and publication of recommended practices and information relating to the operation, inspection and maintenance of work equipment, including recommended specifications for new units.

Subcommittee A: Recommendations for Further Investigation – investigating filtration, conditioning, and dispensing requirements of modern diesel engine fluids.

Subcommittee B: Revision of Manual – working on revision of track Motorcar specifications.

Subcommittee 1: Reliability – investigating equipment reliability measurement and analysis.

Subcommittee 2: Preventative Maintenance – revising PM sections of manual.

Subcommittee 3: Hi-Rail Equipment – continuing definition of hi-rail inspection practices and vehicle adaptation.

Subcommittee 4: Safety & Ergonomics – revising operator visibility and maintenance access for equipment.

Subcommittee 5: Training – investigating training requirements of equipment operators and service personnel.
