Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for Track Bed Inspection

GPR has become a widely used method of measuring the condition of a railway trackbed. It is highly effective at helping to resolve localized track bed anomalies by providing track engineers with continuous information about the sub-surface structure. The ability to collect data at high speed without disturbing the trackbed also makes it a cost-effective tool for network-wide maintenance planning by measuring ballast quality. This webinar will introduce participants to GPR principles specifically concerning track bed inspection. Topics will include standard outputs, the role of GPR in compliance and safety, enhancing GPR-derived information in context with other inspection data, and deployment examples. This course is comprised of recommended practices and relevant accumulated knowledge from subject matter experts in the railroad industry. It is not intended as a regulatory qualification.

The webinar will be conducted on the Zoom platform.
